Saturday’s Blue Square Bet South wrap

Welling United were confirmed as Blue Square Bet South champions at Meadow Park on Saturday following a 1-1 draw with Boreham Wood.

The Wings gained automatic promotion to the Blue Square Bet Premier with their insurmountable lead at the top of the table maintained, despite the Wood’s Chez Isaac cancelling out a Lee Clarke (65) goal in the 71st minute.

Second-placed Salisbury City closed the unassailable gap at the top of the table by two points with a comprehensive 5-1 victory over Havant & Waterlooville at the Raymond McEnhill Stadium.

The Hawks remain in tenth in the standings and grabbed a consolation goal through Perry Ryan (56). Brian Dutton (6), Christopher McPhee (35), Ryan Brett (48) and Dan Fitchett (86, 90) were the scorers for Salisbury.

There was a goalless draw between Dover Athletic and Dorchester Town, while Eastbourne Borough played out a 1-1 draw at Hayes & Yeading United.

Jonte Smith (13) put the visitors ahead at the Kingfield Stadium, but Kudus Oyenuga brought the scores back to level pegging mere minutes later.

Elsewhere, the relegated Truro City managed a remarkable 3-3 draw with Farnborough at Treyew Road.

Matthew Wright (2, 4) had the White Tigers ahead early on, before Elvis Hammond (30) and Richard Peniket (38) staged a mini Boro comeback before half time.

Tom McGarry then completed the comeback in the 82nd minute, but Paul Kendall (87) was on hand to grab at least a share of the spoils for the home side.

Bath City moved to 11th place in the standings with a 3-1 away win over Staines Town at Wheatsheaf Park.

Gethin Jones put the visitors in the lead in the 12th, before Tyrone Marsh pulled one back from the penalty spot in the 78th minute. However, there was a late onslaught from the Romans, scoring two goals in four minutes through Mark Preece (82) and Joe Lennox (86).

Sutton United triumphed 3-1 over AFC Hornchurch thanks to goals from Harry Beautyman (36), Marvin Williams (84) and Rhys Murrell-williamson (86), while Wayne Gray (73) scored the consolation for the Urchins.

Meanwhile, Chelmsford City have a Robert Edmans double (32, 76) to thank for their 2-0 win over Basingstoke Town at the Melbourne Stadium.

Eastleigh put on a show at the Silverlake Stadium in a 4-1 win over Tonbridge Angels. Mikel Suarez (24) had put the Angels ahead, but Craig McAllister (45, 52, 87) and Dean Beckwith (69) secured a entertaining win for the hosts.

Maidenhead United had their own thriller on hand at York Road with a 4-2 victory over ten-man Bromley.

The Magpies had already had a 3-1 lead thanks to David Pratt (16), Reece Tison-Lascaris (33) and Richard Pacquette (62) – with Danny Waldren (21) scoring for the visitors – before Waldren received his marching orders for violent conduct.

Pacquette added his second goal in the 83rd minute, shortly after Pierre Joseph-Dubois had pulled another one back for the Ravens.

Billericay Town had their relegation confirmed with a 1-0 defeat to play-off hopefuls Weston-super-Mare at Woodspring Stadium, Kane Ingram (87) bagging the all-important goal.
