Tuesday’s Blue Square Bet South wrap

Eastleigh booked their place in the Blue Square Bet South play-offs while Tonbridge Angels secured their safety on Tuesday evening.

Eastleigh ensured they would contest the 2012/13 play-offs as they cruised to a 3-1 victory over rock-bottom Truro City, with Glen Southam (28), Damian Scannell (70) and Craig McAllister (78) rendering Barry Hayles’ temporary equaliser on 40 minutes inconsequential.

Tonbridge Angels, meanwhile, had needed only a draw against Eastbourne Borough to secure their place in the division, and David Ijaha’s 74th minute goal provided them with exactly that after Jamie Smith (51) had opened the scoring at Longmead Stadium.

The result also ensured AFC Hornchurch’s relegation, with the Urchins now four points from safety heading into the final day of the season.

Dover Athletic managed to climb to third as they dispatched Staines Town 2-0 at Wheatsheaf Park, Ben May (54) and Steven Thomson (90) getting the goals in the second-half.

Dorchester set themselves up nicely for a top-eight finish this season as they saw off Hayes & Yeading 3-1 at Kindfield Stadium, Ben Watson (16), Sam Malsom (59) and Charlie Clough (77) cancelling out Tom Collins’ 15th minute opener.

Farnborough further compounded Billericay Town‘s woes this season as the Yellows came out on top of a seven-goal thriller at Cherrywood Road, despite having gone down to 10 men with 20 minutes remaining.

Phillip Page (10) and Tom McGarry (14) gave the hosts a quick-fire lead, although Rob Swaine (39) and Glen Poole (44) managed to pull the sides level before the break.

Spencer Day’s men qiuckly reestablished their two-goal cushion after the restart through Phillip Page (57) and Daniel Bennet (61), but their day turned sour when Jones was sent down the tunnel for an early shower.

Poole (80) then ensured a tense final few minutes after grabbing his second, but the visitors were unable to go on an find a leveller.

And finally, Bromley hit back in the final six minutes to overturn a 1-0 deficit to beat Boreham Wood 2-1 at Meadow Park, Louie Theophanous (84) and Pierre Joseph-Dubois (90) cancelling out Charlie Moone’s 72nd minute opener.
