Fleet agree McMahon fee with Dover

Steve Brown is on the verge of making his first signing as Ebbsfleet United manager after agreeing £13,000 fee for Dover Athletic midfielder Daryl McMahon.

Brown is hard at work shaping his new squad having been appointed Liam Daish’s successor at Stonebridge Road earlier this week.

He has already tied down defenders Paul Lorraine and Joe Howe to another season in north Kent, while talks to extend goalkeeper Preston Edwards’ stay are ongoing.

The former Whites first-team coach is now set to be reunited with McMahon, the pair having worked together at the Crabble last season.

The 29-year-old, who began his career at West Ham as a trainee, has Football League experience having played for Torquay United, Port Vale, Leyton Orient and Notts County.

He made the switch to Conference level with Stevenage in January 2007 before spells at Cambridge United, Farnborough, Boreham Wood and Eastleigh followed.

McMahon joined Dover in September last year and went on to make 28 appearances as Chris Kinnear’s side reached the Blue Square Bet North play-offs, where they eventually lost 3-2 to Salisbury City in the final.
