Ebbsfleet United manager Steve Brown has moved to cushion the departure of Gareth Gwillim by signing Chelmsford City left-back Aiden Palmer.
Gwillim joined the Fleet for the second half of last season, eventually making the left-back position his own by the end of the campaign.
However, the veteran recently announced his decision to hang up his boots for good, prompting Brown to make a move for Palmer.
Palmer, 26, joined the Clarets in 2011 after parting ways with Bishop’s Stortford and went on to make over 100 first-team appearances.
The Enfield-born player also counts Cambridge United and Leyton Orient amongst his former clubs.
Speaking to the club’s official website after penning terms, Palmer said: “My goal in joining Ebbsfleet is to first gain promotion to the Conference Premier, and then eventually to make it into the Football League.
“I think we have signed some great players already that can help us achieve that goal and I look forward to getting on the pitch with them and enjoying a bright future at the Fleet.”
