Maidenhead United and Martel Powell have agreed to part ways after a less than successful 2012/2013 Blue Square Bet South season.
A former member of the MK Dons Academy, Martel made 45 appearances for the Magpies scoring nine times in the 2011/12 season, but was unable to hold down a regular first-team berth in the campaign that followed.
He was subsequently loaned out to Chesham United and while he returned to the club towards the end of the campaign, he continued to find himself sidelined.
Maidenhead boss Johnson Hippolyte told the club’s official website that both parties had agreed to part ways.
He said: “Martel has got wonderful ability but he didn’t have the best of seasons last year.
“It was stop, start and was frustrating for him.
“I think we both agreed it was better for him to find a club closer to home and to play some football.
“I will keep an eye on him though because I honestly think he can play at a higher level.”
