Sandercombe lands in Dorchester

Dorchester Town boss Phil Simkin has revealed his delight at having captured former Truro City goalkeeper Tim Sandercombe.

The 23-year-old, who began his career with Queens Park Rangers before joining Plymouth Argyle.

A loan spell at Tiverton Town was to follow before signing for Notts County in 2007. But he left Meadow Lane after one season to join Stafford Rangers where his superb form saw him clinch a move to Mansfield Team.

Next up for the well-travelled stopper was Weymouth and Worcester City before starting last season as Truro City’s first choice, but a back injury kept him sidelined for much of the campaign.

And Simkin is excited to have finally signed a player he has long admired.

He told the club’s official website: “I’m extremely pleased to have signed Tim. He’s someone I’ve admired for a while. He is vastly experienced for his age, has great pedigree and I’m sure will be a great signing for us.”

A club statement added: “The signing of Tim Sandercombe has seen Jason Matthews leave the club. The club would like to thank Jason for all his hard work over the last season and wish him all the best for the future.”

Lewis Morgan has, meanwhile, signed a new deal at the Avenue Stadium

Simkin added: “I’m delighted Lewis has signed. He was a little bit unlucky with injuries last season but I’m expecting him to be a big player for us together with Danny Green and Jamie Gleeson.

“Lewis is a natural central midfielder who is strong and very good at breaking up the play and you don’t find too many of those around.

“He can get the ball, give it, and go off again and he is very good at that side of the game.”

The club have also released a list of confirmed pre-season friendlies:
