Smith swaps Urchins for Darts

Dartford manager Tony Burman has completed his sixth signing of the summer with the acquisition of Lewis Smith from AFC Hornchurch.

Burman has moved to bolster his attacking options following the departure of striker Jacob Erskine at the end of last season after his contract had expired.

Smith scored 12 goals in 44 appearances for the Urchins during the 2012/13 campaign, but was unable to prevent their relegation from the Blue Square Bet South.

The 23-year-old has now been handed a Conference lifeline after signing for the Darts, and will link up with fellow new arrivals Kenny Clark, Max Cornhill, Alan Julian, Tyrone Sterling and Matt Fry next week for pre-season training.

Burman confirmed the deal on the club’s official website, saying: “I have today signed Lewis Smith, a striker, from AFC Hornchurch.

“Lewis, who is 23, is potentially a very good prospect who wants to play higher level football, and I am delighted to have signed him to Dartford.”
