Eastbourne Borough boss Tommy Widdrington has expressed his delight with the signing of former loanee Craig Ross on a permanent deal.
The 23-year-old goalkeeper spent a one-month loan spell at Priory Lane last season, making four appearances for Widdrington’s side before returning to Cambridge United in December.
However, Ross has now linked up with the Blue Square Bet South outfit for the 2013/14 campaign following his recent release by the U’s.
Widdrington was pleased to have secured his services as the young shot-stopper had offers on the table from a number of suitors before opting to join the Sports.
“I am absolutely over the moon to advise Boro fans that I have today agreed a deal which will see Craig Ross join The Sports as our custodian for the 2013-14 season,” he told the club’s official website.
“Regular visitors to Priory Lane will be familiar with Craig as he spent a very successful loan period with us last season. On his recall to Cambridge United he played a huge part in The U’s mid-season revival and was unfortunate not to be offered a new deal.
“We have fought off offers from both The Conference Premier and League 2 as Craig wants to be ‘on the front line’ in what we all hope is a successful campaign.”
